Nida’s Sushi
About Nida’s:
Nida Perry’s story is one of passion and a deep love for both her heritage and the community she has built. Originally from Bangkok, Thailand, Nida found herself in Columbus, Ohio, with a desire to create something of her own. She loved to cook, and she was captivated by the vibrant energy of the North Market. She knew she had to be a part of it. With a variety of Thai dishes and an amazing sushi bar, Nida’s has become a staple at the North Market.
How Did The Idea Come About?
Nida’s dream wasn’t realized overnight. She applied to be a vendor at the North Market and was initially declined, not once, but twice. Unwavering, she discovered that the market was looking to add a sushi vendor. This information ignited a new passion within her. She decided to travel to a sushi academy in Venice, California, where she immersed herself in one-on-one training with skilled sushi chefs. Armed with this new expertise, she returned to Columbus and applied to the North Market a third time, this time with a proposal for a sushi-focused stall. In 2001, her persistence paid off, and Nida’s Sushi was approved, initially serving only sushi. Over time, she expanded her menu to include the Thai dishes she grew up with, which have become a beloved part of her offerings.
What’s Your Favorite Thing About Being a Part of The North Market?
Nida’s favorite part of being in the North Market is the deep sense of community and history. She loves seeing her customers, many of whom have become regulars over the years, and enjoys the personal connection of cooking for them. She finds joy in sharing her menu, often offering customers a taste of something new. Her commitment to her craft and her customers is what makes her business thrive. Although she once had a separate Thai restaurant in the Short North and another stall in the North Market, she has since consolidated her efforts to focus on her original location, where she continues to share her love for food with the community she cherishes.

Story of Nida’s and Nida Perry
Nida has always loved to cook. At one point she had a Thai restaurant in the short north and even took over another stall at the North Market. Realizing the tiring pressure of juggling 3 locations, she let the other stall at the North Market go away and eventually closed the Thai restaurant in 2022. This allowed her to focus on Nida’s Sushi + Thai which was her first venture and true love. She has been building relationships with customers for 24 years and wants to continue this passion of hers in one of the most historic places in Columbus.
