Description
North Market is more than a place to purchase high-quality specialty foods. It is a social gathering point, a place of civic pride, a living example of a community of small, owner-operated businesses adding to the vibrant economic climate of our city. While the North Market is retail in nature, it is guided by “public goals”:
- Attracting shoppers to downtown
- Providing affordable retail opportunities for small businesses
- Preserving local farming and farmland
- Providing a unique opportunity for women, minorities, and individuals of ethnic origin to get a start in business
FOR THE PUBLIC, NOT FOR PROFIT
An additional reason to support us is that the North Market Development Authority (NMDA), the organization responsible for the daily operation of North Market, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We exist solely to serve our community in this role and we rely on the generous fundraising of our Columbus neighbors for the majority of our operating revenue. Your support, quite literally, means the continuation of a beloved resource, essential to the “social fabric” of our city. NMDA’s mission is to provide an authentic Columbus, Ohio experience that highlights the diversity and vibrancy of our community, both economically and culturally, by promoting and incubating “best in class” local, independent businesses.
Consider supporting us through a direct, tax-deductible contribution to NMDA.
