How Did The Idea Come About?
The transition of Market Blooms into its current chapter was a whirlwind of serendipity. The acquisition process began just three months before the official handover when the opportunity to purchase the shop was presented to Morgan Kubic and her husband, Kyle Laberdee. For the couple, the timing felt “meant to happen,” even as it coincided with the early arrival of their daughter, June.
With Morgan’s background as an event planner and the founder of a successful local charcuterie business, and Kyle’s career as a pilot with NetJets, the duo saw the shop as the perfect creative outlet. Kyle’s unique flight schedule provides the flexibility needed to run a family business, allowing them to build a lasting legacy for their daughter while bringing a modern, fresh energy to the historic market floor.

Marty’s dedication built a loyal following that spans generations, and the Laberdees took over with a profound sense of respect for the “big shoes” they had to fill. They kept the transition quiet in the early days, ensuring the focus remained on Marty’s well-deserved retirement and incredible 30-year-plus legacy.
Today, the Laberdees are honoring that history while planting seeds for the future. While the shop remains a staple for everyday market-goers, they are expanding into professional event floral work and weddings. They are also refreshing the shop’s branding to honor their daughter “June Bug.”
